Witkin Design Group Named to Design South Pacific Resort Style Exterior Environment for Twin Tower, 26-Story TAO Condominiums, Sunrise
Weitzer Communities of Davie, has retained Witkin Design Group, North Miami Beach, to design the exterior environment for a 26-story twin tower luxury condominium community, TAO, to be built along Flamingo Road across from Sawgrass Mills, in Sunrise.
TAO will offer a total of 396 residences, with one, two and three- bedroom floor plans, as well as two-story ground-level villas. Prices will range from the $300,000s to more than $700,000.
Recreational amenities and exterior environments will have a South Pacific resort theme to complement the building design’s contemporary Asian style. Preliminary plans by Witkin Design Group call for an entry statement featuring stonework, synthetic bamboo and fire elements, a lagoon-shaped pool with a spa at its center, a meditation garden, bamboo and thatched roofed cabanas, multiple fountains with dancing water, a large reflecting pond with floating pots and a dramatic water wall, a putting green, tennis courts, and lakeside barbeque areas.
“The color palette, exterior ornamentation, and selection of finishes will mimic the rich, elegant shades of the Pacific Islands of Bali and Tahiti rather than the playful, but familiar pastels of the Caribbean,” says Kelly Hults, Witkin Design Group Vice President and Project Manager for TAO.
Developer Jim Rosewater says the “tao” is Chinese for “the way”, and represents the unique environment the new project will bring to Sunrise.
"We're taking the glamour and excitement of a Miami Beach high- rise and bringing it to Sunrise,” he says. “East truly meets West at TAO. We retained Witkin Design Group for TAO because we wanted to create an authentic resort ambiance and the firm has extensive experience with resort properties in the Caribbean.”
Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design, of Sunny Isles Beach, designed the condominium buildings at TAO.
Groundbreaking for TAO is scheduled for September with completion expected in spring, 2007.
